Howard's Musical Specialty Co., appear at the Copland Opera House, Shullsburg, Wisconsin, USA. Their performance includes singing by a male quartet, moving pictures and, according to a report in the Pick & Gad newspaper, a "serpentine dance by Mlle Soleno [that] was the embodiment of graceful and skillful poetic motion, the colored calcium lights adding to its beauty."
T.J.Law (editor, The Pick And Gad) : They did not have the audience that the merits of the show deserved. It was partly their own fault however. A portion of the paper with which the Billboard
s were decorated gave the picture of a buxom maid whose well turned ankle showed below the dress, whereupon some spindle-shanked prudes in this city started the report that the entertainment was "only a leg show," and that prevented a great many ladies from attending the entertainment. Most of the baldheads also kept away for fear that they might be seen going.?
