Muff Winwood (bassist, Spencer David group) : Pop Gear was really good. It had all the Merseybeat and new R'n'B groups, playing one after another in the studio. Then we were asked to star in this diabolical 'Carry On'-type movie, 'The Ghost Goes Gear' – 'gear was a real hip word in those days. It's so crap, it's hilarious. Good fun, though. They paid us well and it meant we weren't on the road for a month. We stayed at this nice country estate that backed onto the River Thames in Berkshire and Nicholas Parsons was the star.
