Short story:

Time magazine reports that RCA Victor has recently put on sale its first reels of music on tape. The 17 tapes, which play as long as a 12-in. LP, range from Brahms to Gershwin and sell for $11 to $15, compared to $4 to $6 for discs. It appears that tape, until now the preserve of hobbyists and high-fidelity fans, is becoming a competitive music carrier format.
