Fact #49511
When:
Short story:
The John Barry Seven play at Matrix Hall, Fletchamstead Highway, Coventry, Warwickshire, UK, supported by The Beatles.
Full article:
Ann McMahon (audience) : We were about the only two standing there, about one metre from Lennon and McCartney. No-one else seemed that much interested. (Source : www.icCoventry.co.uk, November 20, 2003)
Rick Price (guitarist with local band The Cimarrons) : Regular venues at that time included The Hen and Chickens at Langley, where we supported The Hollies and Denny Laine and The Diplomats, and The Winter Gardens in Droitwich where we played every Wednesday. At The Matrix Ballroom in Coventry, we missed playing with the (not yet famous) Beatles by one day. They were supporting The John Barry Seven, who had just had The James Bond Theme in the Top Twenty. I remember looking at the poster and thinking the word Beetles was spelt wrong.
