A new 600 capacity jazz venue, The Cavern Club, is opened in Liverpool, UK, by local entrepreneur Alan Sytner. Headliners are The Merseysippi Jazz Band, supported by The Wall City Jazzmen, The Ralph Watmough Jazz Band and The Coney Island Skiffle Group. Over 2,000 fans turn up, so 1,400 have to be turned away.
