Started by a discarded cigarette in the basement of the Hurst Building, The Great Baltimore Fire destroys most of the city of Baltimore, Maryland, USA, and causes an estimated $200m in property damage. Miraculously, no lives are lost. The disaster will inspire the 1929 song Baltimore Fire by Charlie Poole And The North Carolina Ramblers, and the 2007 track Nineteen Ought Four by J Roddy Walston And The Business.
