Based on a survey of 7,500 high school students, Miss Ernestine
Badt, co-ordinator of Social Activities for the Chicago Public
School Sysytem, announces that the jitterbug dance is on the way
out and dismisses it as 'merely a fad'. She reports that the school
system is however, "giving the boys and girls the modified version
of the collegiate shag, of which jitterbugging is an offshoot."
