Pete Townshend (guitarist, The Who) : Halfway through the gig, all of a sudden, everybody realised that something was working. I don't quite know what it was but everybody, all at the same time just stood up and stayed standing up. From that moment on, they would stand up at the same point. It was the first time we'd created a theatrical device that worked every time.
