Record producer Carl Davis, considered an architect of 'The Chicago Sound' dies at his home in Summerville, South Carolina, USA, aged 77, after a period spent suffering from lung disease. Songs produced by Davis include Gene Chandler's 1962 smash Duke of Earl, Jackie Wilson's 1967 hit [Your Love Keeps Lifting Me] Higher and Higher, Major Lance's Monkey Time [1963] and the Chi-Lites 1972 ballad Oh Girl.
