During Soundgarden's set at the Big Day Out, on the Gold Coast, Australia, frontman Chris Cornell becomes annoyed that he can clearly hear Kanye West's soundcheck on another stage. Cornell tells the crowd, ''Sounds like there's children playing music there, retarded children." He subsequently apologises, stating that the remarks were a criticism of inadequate tour production by event organisers, not Kanye West.
