George Scott-Wood is born in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, Europe. He will achieve success as a jazz pianist, arranger and bandleader of the 1930's Big Band era. Often credited as Scott Wood, he will play with Jay Whidden And His Band (1928-1930), and will subsequently accompany artists including Richard Tauber, Sir Harry Lauder, Beatrice Lillie, Larry Adler, Gracie Fields, Max Miller and Vic Oliver.
