Tom McGuinness (bassist, Manfred Mann] : Our then manager, Ken Pitt, had known John Burgess (EMI A + R man) since their teenage days at a swing club in Uxbridge. Passing the EMI offices in Manchester Square one morning, Ken bumped into John.

'What's happening?' John asked and Ken mentioned this musician he had been talking to called Manfred Mann who was in an r'n'b band. 'Great name,' said John. Ken broke it to him that the band was called the Mann-Hugg Blues Brothers. John wasn't too keen on that name, but an audition was arranged.
