Jackie De Shannon : Recording Needles And Pins was a lot of fun. Some of the musicians who played on the record were Hal Blaine, Carol Kaye and Glen Campbell. The original drum track was somehow erased and we had to overdub Hal's drums again. However, there was leakage on the first drum track. But, somehow, as we were overdubbing it for the second time, we thought it had a very unique sound. So we went with it – two sets of drums – one in sync and one with the echo of the the original track.

Jack Nitzsche : We (Sonny Bono And Nitzsche) were all hanging out with her (Jackie DeShannon), I had that riff for a long time. That isn't a 12 string guitar either, it's a lot of guitars played in unison... Sonny always used to try to take credit for it. We had to keep the tape recorder running when we were recording that, and at one point Sonny says, "You taught me a whole new way to write songs tonight." I want to clip that little piece out...
