Steve Winwood : They were playing Not Fade Away and did this very, very long instrumental intro and were looking round and smiling at me and I thought they were waiting for me to sing. I waded in but, of course, didn’t know the words so they went back to another very, very long instrumental jam and I felt a right idiot. The audience were so out of it they didn’t realise anything was wrong. Mind you, so was the band.
