Robert Smith (The Cure) : Most of those concerts were very disappointing. The venues were too depressing, too impersonal. I think what really went wrong happened early on, in St Austell. It was one of the worst night’s drinking in The Cure’s history. That really didn’t set us up very well and by the time we got to Shepton Mallet, everyone was dead.
