Fact #159803

When:

Short story:

Scarborough Fair by Simon And Garfunkel enters the Billboard Top 100 singles chart in the USA.

Full article:

Carol Kaye (session bassist) : Scarborough Fair was cut at Columbia Studios on Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, around the time we did a few others for Simon And Garfunkel too, including Homeward Bound. They were good to work for but those dates were pretty boring, so I don't remember much except some nice chats of philosophy with Garfunkel. I really enjoyed talking with him. Nice dates as I remember, just kind of long and boring.

Paul Simon : The version I was playing was definitely what I could remember of Martin's (Martin Carthy's) version, but he didn't teach it to me. Really, it was just naivety on my part that we didn't credit it as his arrangement of a traditional tune. I didn't know you had to do that. Then later on, Martin's publisher contacted me and we made a pretty substantial monetary settlement that he was supposed to split with Martin, But unbeknown to me, Martin got nothing.
