Fact #157079

When:

Short story:

Massive Attack begin five consecutive nights at Brixton Academy, London, England, UK, Europe. They are the first band to achieve this many nights at the venue.

Full article:

Marc Picken (West Management, manager of Massive Attack) : In April 2003, our agent David Levy convinced myself and Massive that we should be the first band to ever play 5 consecutive nights at Brixton Academy. = We were cynical / s**t scared but he told us to trust him
I was on the phone to him a few hours after the first three went on sale telling him it was a huge mistake. He laughed and said the first two had sold out in an hour and could we now "stop f**cking about and put the other shows up please".

Kitty Empire (reviewer, The Guardian) : Except for Horace Andy, not one of Massive's usual singers is here. It's all understudies. The parts of Sinéad O'Connor and Liz Fraser are played by Dot Allison, who tries heroically, but can't quite manage Fraser's flutters on 'Teardrop'. The soul parts, meanwhile, are sung by one Debbie Miller. By the home stretch, everyone's so grateful to hear the old hits 'Hymn Of The Big Wheel', 'Safe From Harm' and 'Unfinished Sympathy' that her performance is almost irrelevant, although Miller does earn a big cheer for a particularly strong sustained warble.
