Johnny Black : This is the one that brought Marv back into the public eye in 1982 mainly via the huge hit single Sexual Healing, a glorious return to form that was cut short by his violent and sordid death soon after. It’s intriguing to consider the extent to which sex dominates the lyrics of the album, in the light of the revelations after his death that he spent many of his last days in a darkened room watching porn movies. Nevertheless, it’s a cracking good album if you can ignore its single-mindedness.
