Elvis Costello : I picked up a guitar one day and it (Alison) came out. It is very hard to remember how songs came out. I had in mind The Detroit Spinners' Ghetto Child, which doesn't have anything to do with the song lyrically, but that was the song I modelled it on musically. I often model a song on something I like and then it comes out all different. Some of my most original songs have been when I was trying to copy somebody and got it wrong.
