Roger Paltry (vocalist, The Who) : Everybody is Tommy, that's why it took off. The people made Tommy. They found something they believed in, something they could identify with en masse. The Who took it on the road and got something back from the people and it built from there.
John Entwistle : At first, people were going, "Yeah, too much," mostly because it was such a mammoth. But as we got on with the tour, it started to mean something to everybody, it started to work.
