Dick Tee (production manager, Glastonbury) : I first saw David Bowie in the Aladdin Sane era, when I was a teenager, at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, and I was blown away by the theatricality of it all. Of course, I never imagined then that one day I'd be in the wings at Glastonbury watching him play live from just a few feet away. And to my delight he turned out to be a very normal, charming guy. When he arrived on site, he wanted to go and see a band on the Other Stage, wanted to get a feel of the festival, and I had an old Land Rover Discovery, and I drove David over there in the passenger seat with four or five of his entourage in the back, and a couple of security guards hanging onto the rear bumper.

Liz Eliot (organizer, Glastonbury) : My most moving moment here was in 2000 when the peace flame was brought to the Green Futures field, carried all the way from Japan, Asia. It was lit from the burning ruins of the Hiroshima bomb and has been kept alight ever since to preserve the memory of that dreadful day. Candles were lit from it and placed all over the site. On Sunday morning a candlelit and rainbow procession was led across the site to the Pyramid Stage for a peace ceremony. It was speechlessly moving.
