Glastonbury Fayre officially changes its name to Glastonbury Festival. For £8 a head, 18,000 heads have the chance to see New Order, Hawkwind, Taj Mahal, Aswad, Gong, Judy Tzuke and more. Local farmer Michael Eavis takes over running the event again. This is the first "Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament" festival, raising £20,000 for CND. A new, permanent, Pyramid stage is constructed, although it will double as a cowshed and animal food store in winter.
