Gay Mercader (promoter, Spain) : Even though I have retired, I remain in touch with the artists I love, like Keith Richards, Bryan Ferry, Sting and, of course, AC/DC, who always call and ask me personally if I can do it for them. So, of course, I say yes. It’s a privilege to have a band who specifically want you. I also get on well with their agent, Chris Dalston, which is good because if the agent isn’t cool, I don’t need it any more. I’m retired. When I was running my company, I had to consider the staff who I employed, so I would fight hard to get acts, but not now.

One great thing about AC/DC is that money is not their first consideration. Normally, nowadays, money is the first priority. On this tour and the previous one they have actually asked me to lower my ticket prices. They could charge the same as the Stones or U2, because today they are in the same league, but they don’t. The shows this year were priced at €75 and €80.

They don’t have golden circles and red carpets, pre-sales and all this stuff. The tickets go on sale and when they’re gone, that’s it, thank you and goodbye. And they all still share the same dressing room, that’s significant.

They are huge in Madrid. March 22nd 2000, Angus and Malcolm Young went to the municipality of Leganés, near Madrid in Spain, where Mayor Jose Perez Raiz honoured AC/DC by naming a street after the band: "Calle De AC/DC", which translates to "AC/DC Street".

This year I told them they could do two shows at Estadio Vincente Calderon in Madrid and, having been their promoter for over 30 years, they trusted me. We put them on sale and they sold out in eight hours.

Also, there’s no age limits, no social determination at an AC/DC show. I could name at least five judges who came to the shows in Madrid. It’s crazy.
