Full article:

Jonathan King : I wrote that wonderful song when I was strolling round the streets of Cambridge on a dark evening and I was sort of composing songs in my head, and the idea came up to write a song that was actually complete nonsense and that managed to rhyme 'moon' and 'June' in it, but that the public would never notice, and would think that it was full of depth and meaning and great intelligence and perception. You see, from the very start, I was attempting to wind the public up and cock a snook at them.

It was originally going to be the flip-side, but my recording manager Ken Jones said, 'Write a b-side as good as an A, being a conscientious fellow, and 'Moon' became the A-side.
