Mitch Ryder : We heard Shorty Long's great version of Devil when it first came out in Detroit and, of course, his bluesy, laid-back approach sounded so good that we started out doing it somewhere around Shorty's original tempo. But we were a nervous, energetic band, and we just couldn't hold back. That's where we tended to be more rock'n'roll than r'n'b.
