When:

Short story:

Full article:

Robert John Godfrey (leader of prog-rock band The Enid) : I can tell you a story about this. When our first album was projected but before we’d really done much work on it, we took the concept to Tony Stratton-Smith at Charisma Records. We wanted to call it The Voyage Of The Acolyte and it was about The Tarot. But he said no, he didn’t want it, so we carried on anyway.

Then Steve Hackett’s album came out and guess what it was called? The Voyage Of The Acolyte. And guess what it was about? Tarot! Well, I don’t blame Stratton-Smith really. What happened, I imagine, is Steve Hackett, having left Genesis and, for various commercial reasons, had to do an album. Charisma wanted him to do an album. He probably didn’t have a clue what he was going to do, so Stratton-Smith thought that the project of Robert’s isn’t going to happen and said ‘I know what we can do…’ Steve Hackett - I think quite unwittingly - stole our concept.
