Fact #117256

When:

Short story:

David Cassidy plays at Maine Road Football Stadium, Manchester, UK.

Full article:

John Locke (keyboardist) : A couple of days after the terrible incident during David’s concert at White City, we were playing the final gig of the UK tour and we were told just before we were due on stage that somebody had sent a death threat against David. Apparently it was some guy who was jealous because his girlfriend had a poster of David above her bed. And he was going to be in the audience with a shotgun.

The security people did a big search but they couldn’t be sure they’d checked everybody, so we were completely terrified when we went on stage. We set up our instruments as far away from David as we possibly could. I was maybe twenty feet away on the far end of the stage. But God knows what was going through his mind as he did that show. I know that, coming immediately after the White City thing, it was the major cause of him deciding to give up playing music.
