Michael Cohl (promoter) : I promoted a show with Genesis at Massey Hall in Toronto in 1974. It seats over 2,000 people, but they drew only 400. I went home afterwards and told my wife, ‘I have good news and bad news. The bad news is we just lost all of our money. The good news is I’ve just seen the best band in the world.’
I have to say, though, I had a great time with them. I hung out with them after the show, went for dinner, stayed out all night doing all the stuff you’re not supposed to do and got home at 6.00am stinking of alcohol. I just thought they were the greatest thing I’d ever seen, and I’ve enjoyed the privilege of working with them ever since.
