Fact #113900

When:

Short story:

Paul McCartney plays the first of two nights at The Palatrussardi, Milan, Italy, Europe.

Full article:

Adolfo Galli (promoter, Di And Gi) : We had a lot of people, very important people, politicians, the Mayor of Milan, businessmen, celebrities, asking for tickets for the first night. These people always want to be in the front rows, so that's what they got. The show started and everybody stood up and danced except the front rows.

When Paul came off, he was not pleased. He wants to play to fans, not seated celebrities. So Barrie Marshall, Paul's agent, called a major meeting so we could make it better the following night. That afternoon we went outside and found a bunch of kids who had been waiting since early in the morning, and we added in two extra rows of seating in front of the front rows, and we gave those seats to the kids. The first song started, the kids jumped up, so the VIPs had to stand up as well, and it was a much better night for McCartney.
