Ashley Goodall (A+R Man, EMI Records) : After we signed Iron Maiden, there was a post-signing celebration gig at The Music Machine, where Ozzy Osbourne was wandering about, checking out this new band, nodding the head and all that. The word was out. It was packed and it was a great gig. Maiden played a great set and everyone was thinking, "Bloody hell, this is happening!" We went into the studio pretty soon after that to do their first single, Running Free, just before Christmas 1979.
