Fact #106726

When:

Short story:

Ringo Starr, drummer of The Beatles, goes to The Scene Club in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, USA, with Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix jams with Jeremy Steig but Ringo declines to play drums. On this night, Jimi Hendrix is also said to have jammed with Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, during the Jeff Beck Group gig at The Scene.

Full article:

Albert Bouchard (drummer, Soft White Underbelly) : That was my drums that he declined to play on... I said it'd be a great honour for you to use my drums... but he said "No, no thank you very much"... I wanted to see Ringo with Hendrix, that would've been awesome, right? And after everybody left, Teddy Slatus, the house manager of the Scene, came over to me and said "You know why Ringo didn't want to play your piece of shit drums? Because they're just crap!! You need some new drums."
