Michael J. Weber (author, scenester) : Let me tell you a story about Steve Paul. Steve was a nineteen-twenty year old kid who owned a night club called Steve Paul's The Scene. Steve based himself on Mr Lucky, a tv character when we were young. This was when the Fillmore East was the big venue in New York, and Fleetwood Mac were coming in to New York. I was hanging out at the bar in The Scene, and Steve Paul called me and Patti D'Arbanville over, and Teddy, the manager/driver there, and we all got into a limousine and headed out to the airport. Steve got our limo onto the tarmac somehow, and here's Fleetwood Mac coming off the plane.

Essentially, Steve Paul kidnapped them from the tarmac. Bill Graham, who had arranged their whole trip, was waiting to greet them in the arrivals lounge. Steve took them back to his house on 11th Avenue with the girls, and we got stoned out of our minds.
