The Kinks release their debut album, Kinks, in the UK on Pye Records. Session players on the album include guitarist Jimmy Page and organist Jon Lord.

Ray Davies (singer and songwriter of The Kinks] : With the exception of Stop Your Sobbin', Bobby Graham played drums on all the tracks, and a songwriter called Perry Ford played piano. The only occasion a few outside session men came into the studio was when we recorded Bald-Headed Woman. The group was a little insecure with the song so Shel (producer Shel Talmy) invited John Lord (later of Deep Purple) to play organ and Jimmy Page (later of Led Zeppelin] twelve-string rhythm guitar in an attempt to add some professionalism to the performance.
