Shirley Reeves [The Shirelles] : We were just starting to make the charts all over the US, but when Manfred Mann covered us - boom! - they had the hit. That was the start of the British Invasion and the DJs were all really hot on that British stuff. They stopped playing ours and they made theirs the hit. We were lucky in that we were able to keep on working. We held our own.
