Ray Ennis (Swinging Blue Jeans) : While recording You're No Good, a strange thing happened. We were putting down a vocal track when Wally's (producer, Walter J. Ridley) voice suddenly boomed over the intercom, 'Hold it! Hold it!'

He inquired which of us had sung a 'bum' note and we all looked at each other. After what seemed an eternity, he assured us it was a 'technical hitch' and nothing to do with us.

Evidently, while adding echo to the vocal, which was achieved (believe it or not) by passing the sound through a fully tiled room with a speaker at one end and a microphone at the other, a cleaner had walked into the room and obviously didn't have her hearing-aid switched on.
