Jon Lord : In America, fans come to hear what you do and, assuming you are good, you are accepted. Bit in Britain, unfortunately, there is a tendency for them to come to see you - check out the gear you are wearing. If the image is OK, then you are accepted. It just doesn't happen like that in The States.
You can put on Jeff Beck at The Fillmore in the States, and people come to listen. Put on a pure pop bubblegum team and they'll also come to listen before making up their minds.
