Richard Carpenter : Karen and I signed with A+M Records in April 1969 and almost immediately started working on this album, which is definitely a reflection of its time. Originally released with the title Offering (and featuring a picture of the two of us I shudder to think of ) it was re-packaged and re-released after the minor success of its only single, Ticket To Ride, and the major success of Close To You.
