Columbia Records in the USA begins a brief marketing campaign based around the slogan, "The Man Can't Bust our Music". The intention is to ingratiate Columbia with music-buying hippies. Unfortunately for Columbia, hippies firmly believe that major record labels and 'the man' are virtually synonymous, so this appallingly patronising campaign backfires, making the label seem cynical and seriously out of touch.
