The Albert Ammons Centennial Concert, celebrating the 100th birthday anniversary of the legendary jazz and boogie-woogie pianist, takes place in the First United Methodist Church at the Chicago Temple, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Artists appearing include saxophonist Franz Jackson,who played his first professional gig with Mr. Ammons at the age of sixteen in 1929. No less thsan five pianists take part - Axel Zwingenberger of Hamburg, Germany; Erwin Helfer of Chicago; Carl 'Sonny' Leyland of Los Angeles; Bob Seeley of Detroit; Butch Thompson of St. Paul. Jazz vocalist Lila Ammons, Albert's grand-daughter, also appears.
