The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) detonates two bombs in the town centre of Warrington, Cheshire, UK. The blasts kills two children: three-year-old Johnathan Ball dies instantly, and twelve-year-old Tim Parry will die five days later in hospital. Around 56 other people are injured, four seriously. The song Zombie by The Cranberries is a reaction to this horrific atrocity.
