It is announced that Oldham Council in England, UK, has named its newest road gritting vehicle Nicole Saltslinger, in honour of former Pussycat Dolls vocalist Nicole Scherzinger. The council had run an online competition inviting local people to devise a name for the gritter and Nicole Saltslinger was chosen as the most suitable, beating off other suggestions including Gritney Spears, Gritney Houston, Spready Mercury and Gritter Garbo.
